self-care & healthy habits

Positive coping skills are healthy ways we handle tough emotions. For instance, taking deep breaths, relaxing, listening to music, talking to someone you trust about how you feel, grounding yourself, and saying positive things to yourself.

Self-care and healthy habits are things you do to help you feel better and stay healthy, both physically and emotionally.

help-seeking

Seeking help means asking for support from a trusted community member (e.g., a friend, classmate, other trusted person) OR a mental health professional (e.g., a counselor, psychologist, or social worker).

Mental health resources include crisis hotlines, mental health apps, community healers, therapy, and psychiatry.

prosocial

Helpful behaviors are actions you choose to do to help someone else. Examples could be comforting a friend, volunteering, or doing something nice for someone unexpectedly.

Teens can support each other's mental health by listening, encouraging help, checking in, promoting positive activities, and creating a caring and understanding environment.
