As we prepare for the new year, OMM clubs are holding their last meetings and events of the year.🥳 On December 11, McKinley Minds Matter (@techmindsmatter) at McKinley Technology High School in Washington D.C., collaborated with their school’s Poetry Club to host their first Poetry Slam open mic of the school year. Students gathered to enjoy hot chocolate and poetry from their peers.🎤Students’ work acted as an outlet to share their struggles and to remind their peers that their mental health matters! As schools wind down for winter break, students are met with the stress of exam and project deadlines. In late November, CHEC Minds Matter (weare_cmm) at Columbia Heights Education Campus in Washington D.C., organized a pre-Thanksgiving spirit week. This day is so needed because suicide continues to be a crisis amongst teens, with recent research showing that it is the second-leading cause of death for people ages 10-24. We know that it can be easy to get bogged down in this work when faced with statistics like this, so today we invite you to focus on action and joy with our initiative Because You Matter.
