- Learn about and celebrate Black culture in a low-stakes, game setting
- Gain skills in respect, acceptance, humility, and cultural competence
- Have fun and connect with students of all background!
- Split the group into 2 or more teams and then provide the following instructions:
- When it is their turn, a team should choose a category and a number (please note that the questions get more difficult as the numbers get higher)
- A team has 30 seconds to quietly discuss and then provide their answer
- Phrase answers as a question (i.e., “what is” or “who is”)
- If the team provides the correct answer, the team will receive the number of points that the question was worth
- If the team provides an incorrect answer, then the next team in the order of play has 15 seconds to discuss and try to “steal.” If this team gets the question right, they get the points and then begin their next turn.
- If this team gets the answer wrong and there is no additional team to “steal”, then the team’s turn is over. If there is an additional team in the order of play, then this team can “steal.”
- You can keep score right on the board, so play until the board is done and have fun!
- What is the most interesting thing you learned from today’s game?
- How is learning about and celebrating Black culture relevant to mental health?
- Tips: You can play Jeopardy! Music from YouTube while teams are messaging their leaders their guesses
