Mental Health Awareness Month is a chance for all

Mental Health Awareness Month is a chance for all of us to get real. I’ve had anxiety for as long as I can remember, and I’ve struggled with disordered eating and body image since before I turned 10. These things won’t ever go away, and I can honestly say now that that’s ok. At 26, I live my life committed to being honest about how I feel so I can make peace with every part of myself. Working for Our Minds Matter not only allows me to show up as my full self, but gives me the chance to connect with and empower teens to do what I wish I had when I was their age—change the culture around mental health. I now work as a Program Coordinator for Our Minds Matter, and I am so honored that I get to support students in reshaping school culture around mental health as they create new spaces of support with their peers and community.
