It’s March Madness y’all! But over here, we’re doing it OMM style. As part of our Youth Athletes Minds Matter campaign, we’ve gathered some of the most popular sports movies over the last few decades to duke it out in a bracket style tournament. Each week, you’ll vote in our stories for your favorites to move on to the next round. Who will prevail in the end?? Stay tuned to see. But that’s not all! Not only are we voting for our favorite sports movies–we’re thinking critically about the media’s depiction of issues like mental health, race & privilege, trauma, and much more. Keep an eye on our stories to share your thoughts on how these movies resonated with you–and maybe how they missed the mark. While we’re having fun, please keep this in mind: OMM does not endorse any of these movies or their messaging. Some of these movies may not handle sensitive issues in a thoughtful way, and may be triggering for some. Watch with care. This tournament is not about finding a perfect movie with a perfect message, but instead it’s about learning how to think critically about the messages we receive about athlete mental health from sports media and reflecting on how these messages may have led us to develop biases. Calling all teen artists! Are you passionate about mental health? Do you want your mental health inspired design to be seen by OMM supporters everywhere? If so, this message is for you! OMM and the Teen Advisory Council are absolutely thrilled to be announcing the launch of a design contest taking place this month! Participants will submit designs for new OMM merchandise that will be sold nationwide as part of our fundraising efforts for Mental Health Awareness Month. The design should be original, visually pleasing, teen-centric, and uplifting, but otherwise totally up to you! It can be hand drawn or a graphic design. For more info on the design, terms, and prizes, check out the link in our bio. Submit all designs by March 26th, 11:59 PM EST to be considered. Be as creative and as colorful as possible! Access to gender affirming care, support, and community is critical to youth suicide prevention. To outlaw gender affirming care for minors and place restrictions on Drag shows (which have long been hubs of LGBTQ+ community) is an act that only harms our youth. Trans and nonbinary kids are entitled to a world that protects their rights to existence, safety, and the ability to thrive.

We’re feeling extra grateful on this World Teen

We’re feeling extra grateful on this World Teen Mental Health Day because we were selected to receive grant funding from The Hollister Confidence Project to continue our work toward the day when no teen dies by suicide. This support will help us continue to meet teens where they are – in their schools – with the mental health resources they need. And this funding comes at an awesome time for OMM; we’ve grown our program to include middle school students, because younger teens need to be a part of the mental health conversation more than ever. Thank you @hollisterco for your investment in OMM! World Teen Mental Health Day was founded by @HollisterCo in 2020, and it’s an annual reminder to feel your feelings. This isn’t just a one-day thing, though. It’s a conversation starter meant to encourage dialogue that disrupts the stigma surrounding mental health. #hcopartner

Not One More weekend is underway, and today is the Day of Support. Please join the National Alliance for Eating Disorders today for their support group marathon! From 8 am to 12:00 am EST (5 am to 9 pm PST) we will offer 24 free, therapist-led, virtual support groups. Groups will be open to individuals experiencing eating disorders (ages 18+) and loved ones (ages 12+) around the globe! Support groups offered include: Pro-Recovery, Friends & Family, LGBTQ+ Pro-Recovery, BIPOC, Chronic Illness, Relapse Prevention, Mindful Movement, Eating Disorders & Substance Use Disorders, Stories of Hope + Recovery, Loved Ones Group in Spanish, and many more! When we think of Valentine’s Day, we often assoc

When we think of Valentine’s Day, we often associate it with love, joy, and positivity. For some, however, the holiday brings up feelings of isolation and loneliness. Knights Minds Matter of Ballou High School in Washington, D.C. wanted to combat the potential for feelings of isolation on Valentine’s Day. To share the love with their school community, they passed out handmade Valentine’s day kindness hearts to students and staff. We also want to express our gratitude to the funders in our community who support our work. Our DCPS program is thriving because of our strong base of individual donors, as well as supporters including Born This Way Foundation’s Kindness in Community Fund (@btwfoundation), the Hollister Confidence Fund (@hollisterco), the Joseph E. and Marjorie B.
