“Stress Less, Laugh More” at Langley, McLean and TJ

The week before AP exams is one of the most stressful times of the year.   Interested students, counselors and administration came up with the following “Stress Less, Laugh More” campaigns that were implemented during the week of April 30th – May 4th.

Langley High School – All week was pajama week.  School rock was painted. Joke of the day read during the morning announcements.  “Laugh More” buttons for every student/faculty. “How Stressed Are You Today” bell curve where students used stickers to indicate where they fell on the curve.  Relaxation room, board games, Playdoh table, Zumba lesson and yoga class, raffles.

McLean High School – School rock was painted.  Funny jokes/clips on morning announcements.  “Laugh More” buttons for every student/faculty.  “Laugh More” shirts were sold.  “Stress Thermometer” where students used stickers to indicate where they fell. Posters translated in different languages all over the school, resource material on anxiety and depression available for students.

TJ –  School rock was painted. “Laugh More” buttons for every student/faculty.  “Don’t Be A Ball of Stress” – students made their own stress balls.  “Laugh More Paparazzi” – pictures taken of smiling/laughing students.  Two yoga sessions for students.  “1,000 Ways to Relax” – students wrote on a sticky how they de-stress and posted on the wall.

The JAF was pleased to initially introduce the program to the three schools and along with their PTSAs and the Safe Community Coalition, help fund materials for the daily activities.
